Chris Cairns' last year has been brutal. In August he suffered a heart attack, underwent four open-heart surgeries and had a spinal stroke, which left him wheelchair-bound and paralysed in his legs. His brush with death has given him a new lens on life, and made him open to talking about his High Court trial, and other things he wouldn't have in the past.
