About Us

Two men with beards laughing and talking, holding drinks, standing behind a wooden table with a microphone and glasses of beer. The background is red with text promoting a podcast called 'Between Two Beers' by Alternative Commentary Collective, available on iHeartRadio, with the tagline 'Good Questions, Great Guests, Few Beers.'

Steve and Seamus like asking good questions - and they love great answers. Following 20 years of friendship, they bought a microphone and started a podcast, allowing them to sit with, and learn from, the most interesting, successful people they can access. From All Blacks legend Sir John Kirwan, to media wildcard Paddy Gower, and comedian Leigh Hart, Between Two Beers have produced hundreds of hours of incredible stories, career highs, lows and moments of raw vulnerability. And it’s only the beginning.

Steve is a sports journalist, who is currently the premium sports editor at NZME, responsible for overseeing all content that goes behind the paywall of the sport section at nzherald.co.nz. He is a former NZ national league footballer who tore his hamstrings over 15 times across his career. He has four young kids with his wife Bonnie, and keeps his sanity with regular gentle strolls around the Hamilton lake listening to R&B slow jams. Steve swears by OMAD (one meal a day) and cold showers and is constantly on the lookout for new life hacks.

Seamus works in marketing, having transitioned from a long career in football administration which saw him in roles with FIFA, the Oceania Football Confederation, and New Zealand Football. He has travelled to numerous World Cups and Olympics and been a part of a number of football teams traveling around the world over the last 15 years. Outside of the podcast you’ll often find him in the technical area for Melville United, trying to avoid work on Monday’s so he can support the Seattle Seahawks, or perfecting his Spotify playlists, Seamus is also a fan of That Peter Crouch Podcast and a late adopter of Steve’s life hacks.
